Stepping in the Right Direction College & Cultural Tours

Since 2007, Stepping in the Right Direction has provided educational college and cultural tour experiences designed to expose students to new opportunities, environments, and possibilities for their future. While we coordinate a variety of college and cultural experiences, we specialize in Historically Black College and University (HBCU) tours, giving students the opportunity to experience HBCU campuses, culture, history, and traditions firsthand.


Over the years, we have worked with school districts, individual schools, community organizations, and youth-serving programs across the country, coordinating experiences for groups of all sizes. Our goal is to make every tour more than just a campus visit, it is an opportunity for students to explore, learn, experience new environments, and begin envisioning where their educational journey can take them.

Our HBCU tour experiences are designed primarily for student groups, with select opportunities available for individual students to join scheduled tours.

Traveling as an Individual?

A limited number of spaces may be available on select pre-set tours. Individual students can join our interest list and may be connected to a tour opportunity based on availability and interest within their city or region.

EVERY TOUR EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:

  • Professional Tour Coordination Team — experienced support managing your tour experience from planning through travel.
  • Dedicated Tour Chaperone Team — additional student supervision and support throughout the tour.
  • Pre-Tour HBCU 101 Workshop — an engaging workshop introducing students to HBCU history, culture, traditions, campus life, and what to expect during their tour experience.
  •  Pre-Travel Orientation & Preparation Meeting — important travel information, expectations, packing guidance, itinerary overview, and preparation for students and group leaders.
  •  Welcome Night Dinner Experience — each tour begins with a special welcome dinner designed to bring students, chaperones, and the tour team together. Students are introduced to the tour experience, review expectations and important information, meet their fellow travelers, and prepare for the exciting days ahead.
  •  Customized Tour Itinerary — thoughtfully planned campus visits, cultural experiences, meals, transportation, and activities.
  •  Round-Trip Charter Bus Transportation — transportation throughout the tour experience.

✈️ Airfare is not included in the tour package and is priced separately based on the group's departure city and travel arrangements.
